Now that Sienna is a month old and we’re into the groove with her schedule I’ve had a little more time for myself. One thing that I try to do religiously now is enjoy a hot bath because I still can’t hit the gym for a couple of weeks. We also just remodeled our bathroom adding a “soaking tub” so fancy, huh? A bath is the best way for me to relax and detach. Making my own bath salts is not only easy but I’m able to combine everything I enjoy to create the full experience. Yes, my bath is an experience. I even add flowers into the bubbly water. Bath salts can also make a great gift!
Here’s how to prepare your own blend at home:
MATERIALS
Coarse sea salt
Epsom salt
Baking soda
essential oils
food coloring (optional)
STEPS
- In a large bowl, mix to combine 6 parts coarse sea salt, 3 parts epsom salt and 1 part baking soda
- Add a few drops of essential oils (my favorites are eucalyptus and jasmine)
- Add minimal food coloring for desired shade
